Clerical Unit Update
In the middle of April, a new computer training series began at the Norristown Hedwig House in which many members participated. The classes have been held in the computer lab in the clerical unit, and meet on Wednesday's and Thursday's before lunch.
In the class, we have learned how to use Microsoft Word to create documents. In Word, we are practicing changing font size, color, and style; copying and pasting; bold, italicize, and underlining functions; using the keyboard; using the mouse; capitalization and use of symbols; indentation; and aligning text. We are also learning how to use the Internet. We now know how to search websites on Google, visit websites, and use the back, forward, and refresh arrows. Eventually, our goal is to become proficient on Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, and other Microsoft Office programs.
So far, the class has been well-attended and well-received. The members are so enthusiastic and excited about their progress! We've now completed six lessons (for each group). Keep your eyes peeled for pictures of the computer class, which will be uploaded soon. If you're a Norristown member and you are interested in computer training, please see me. If you're reading the website and you are not a member, keep in mind that Hedwig House is a great place to learn the computer skills that we all need in a fast-paced, technological world!
