Mobile Psych Rehab (M.P.R.)

M.P.R. Program Summary

Through this mobile approach to psychiatric rehabilitation, services are taken to the members’ homes and apartments. Our members’ goals encompass a variety of areas, all lying within one or more of five domains. These domains are Living, Illness and Wellness, Vocational, Educational, and Social.

Examples of services provided include activities of daily living (ADL) skill training, menu planning assistance, budgeting assistance and organizational help. The program may also support members by assisting them in finding ways to develop their skills through education and vocational connections.

Members pursue their goals with a rehabilitation specialist during weekly meetings that last an hour or two.   Sessions generally occur Monday through Friday during normal business hours. These meetings most often take place in the member’s homes or apartments.    Overall, through hard work and dedication to the mission of the program, many of our members have experienced success in their rehabilitation plans.

Special Events

Special events are sponsored by the entire MPR staff and are scheduled as extracurricular activities. They are designed to increase social rehabilitation through enjoyable activities within the community. These events encourage cohesion within the membership and provide a chance for staff and members to work together toward a common goal. It is our hope that these activities will give our members the confidence to duplicate some of the outings on their own or with a friend.

Some examples include:

  • Camping
  • Shore trips
  • Holiday meals at a restaurant
  • Mental health walks/rallies
  • Agency picnics and bowling tournaments which include all Hedwig House staff and members
